Job Summary
The Warehouse Manager is (directly or through delegation) responsiblefor planning, directing and coordinating the storage and distributionoperations; ensuring the achievement of storage and distribution objectives atthe lowest cost consistent with quality standards and customer requirements.
Essential Job Duties
Collaborates on the Department Business Plan; considers theeffectiveness of the Company's whole operation, and includes associated impactsand support to other business units.
Communicates the Department Business Plan; ensures employeesunderstand the link to Strategic Business Plan and company objectives, andtheir role in accomplishing these plans.
Performs the Department Business Plan and activities to reliablymeet, maintain or exceed production volume and quality specifications, andefficiency, safety and other performance objectives.
Manages related department activities. Uses knowledge oftechnology, operations, operating methods, and machine and/or processcapabilities to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Fosters a continuous improvement performance culture. Develops andimplements innovative and creative continuous improvements and/or new industryprocesses to improve all operations.
Collaborates with external and internal, customers, suppliers andinterdisciplinary teams (such as Purchasing, Production, etc.) to ensure thatmethodologies match Production, Sanitation, Quality Assurance and thecustomer's processes and priorities; if they do not, adjust methods and otherprotocols to match business needs.
Provides technical assistance in areas of expertise, as needed toaid and facilitate other areas in Baptista's effort and attainment ofadvancements in diversification, competitive edge, and process and projectimprovement, and in building a value-based performance and relationshipculture.
Identifies budget needs. Forecasts expenses and recommends capitalprojects. Adheres to budgetary and expenditure policy guidelines and additionalresource requisition processes. Identifies, requisitions or purchasesauthorized tools, supplies, equipment, services and purchases as appropriateand as needed to facilitate the work.
Partners with various site leaders to develop and clearly andeffectively communicate performance standards, goals, objectives and processes.
Partners with various site leaders in the selection, training,promotion, transfer, pay, reward and recognition and discipline of personnel.
Mentors, motivates and counsels to optimize performance andpersonal growth, and build leadership capability. Provides performance feedbackthrough daily interaction, periodic performance reviews, and as-neededperformance improvement plans.
Directs, assigns, coordinates and monitors all department activities. Usesknowledge of technology and machine and equipment capabilities, process methodsand procedures to ensure efficient use of facility, materials, machines andemployees. Delegates to and manages direct reports as appropriate.
Ensures department personnel remain current on all necessarytechnologies. Uses internal expertise and external resources (e.g., equipmentmanufacturers, seminars, consultants) for training and updating.
Implements and uses Onboarding protocol process for direct reportsand monitor delegated follow up to ensure new hires are welcomed, acclimated,trained, tested, and provided feedback and guidance.
Effectively and professionally communicates with internal orexternal customers, co-workers and vendors. Builds and enhances relationshipswith vendors of equipment, shipping, and related services and suppliers, andgovernment regulators and/or regulatory agencies.
Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Sanitation to learn andtrain employees on all internal and regulatory food safety required proceduresand requirements as well as perform Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)department self-audits as required under company policy.
Partners with Human Resources and the Safety Representatives toimplement processes, procedures and safeguards to ensure all applicableregulatory, industry and other pertinent food, shipping, production, personnel,customer, consumer and public safety standards are met.
Ensures compliance with Baptista's safety rules, GMPs, kosherrequirements, quality specifications, American Institute of Baking (AIB)guidelines, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards,Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) andDepartment of Natural Resources (DNR) or other applicable laws, regulations andcodes.
Maintains security in the Production and Warehouse areas.
Establishes standard and emergency operating procedures forreceiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
Partners with department heads, such as purchasing, production andmaintenance, to coordinate warehouse activities.
Plans, develops, implements and monitors warehouse safety andsecurity programs and activities.
Maintains integrity of inventory accuracy of finished goods andpackaging materials. Adjusts inventoryas necessary. Conducts physicalinventories as necessary.
Ensures finished product is free of damage and properly countedand conduct cycle counts and physical inventories. Ensures product, its transportation and itsstorage, meets Food Safety and Security requirements. Active member of Food Safety Team.
Partnerswith Quality Assurance to coordinate and supervise procedures regarding receiptof raw ingredients and packaging supplies and ensure that product is put on/offhold or in dedicated staging areas.
Reviews invoices, work orders, reports and demand forecasts to estimatepeak delivery periods and issue work assignments. Schedules pickup, delivery,or distribution of products or materials.
Reviewsand analyzes invoices and shipping manifests foraccuracy and conformity to regulations; identifies causes ofnonconformity as well as opportunities for cost and/or lead-time reduction andquality improvement; modifies processes to maintain and enhance profitableoperation.
ManagesWarehouse employees either directly or indirectly (such as through Leads orSupervisors).
Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment and preparework orders for testing, maintenance, or repair. Communicate repair andmaintenance issues to Maintenance.
Partnerswith Engineering and Maintenance regarding facilitymodifications or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in spaceallocation or structure to optimize floor layout and material flowthrough lean concepts and automation.
Interacts with customers or shippers, answer questions aboutservices etc., and investigate complaints.
Negotiates contracts, settlements and freight-handling agreementsto resolve problems.
Prepares or directs preparation of correspondence, reports, andoperating procedure manuals.
Maintainsrecords and verifies accuracy of inbound/outbound paperwork.
Conducts regular work team meetings for all shifts. Relaysinformation and/or solicit response to work-related problems. Resolvestechnical issues.
May perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Clear and professional spoken and written communication skills arerequired. Must be able to speak and/or write clearly and to effectivelycommunicate information and ideas so others will understand. Strong Englishlanguage competency is a must. Bilingual is a plus.
Ability to effectively write reports and business correspondencebased on audience need, and to effectively present information and respond toquestions from groups, managers, customers, contractors and regulatory orgovernment representatives as well as with other employees in the organization.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals,professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations, and tointerpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Highly motivated, results focused and able to concurrently handlemultiple priorities. Ability to balance skills needed to plan strategicallywhile being able to drive into a tactical approach as necessary.
Skilled in calculating figures and amounts and proficient inapplying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions topractical and abstract situations, and working with mathematical concepts suchas basic algebra, plane and solid geometry.
Proficient in high volume shipping and experienced with scheduleplanning in a shipping/warehouse environment. Understands methods for movinggoods including relative costs, advantages and limitations.
Familiar with warehouse/inventory management systems, bar codingand computers (MS Office) for data and information entry and retrieval and forreport, document and/or spreadsheet preparation.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety ofabstract and concrete variables in situations where only limitedstandardization exists. Experienced using basic analysis methods to solvepractical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Experienced in developing Return on Investment (ROI) and projectmanagement of modifications to equipment and factory procedures. Ability tomake sound business decisions.
Possesses spatial capability to estimate and visualize availableand needed capacity for raw materials through Work in Progress (WIP) andinventory needs. Understands how product components move, the fit and flow ofprocesses, timelines, dependencies and benchmarks, and how to schedule andmanage resources.
Education and Experience
Bachelor'sDegree in a related field from a four-year college or university; a master'sdegree is preferred; or 7 years of related warehouse supervisory and/orleadership experience in a team-based continuous improvement culture; orequivalent combination of education and experience is required. Successfulapplication of lean manufacturing concepts is a plus.
Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move upto 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include closevision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Theemployee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must be ableto sit most of the day, typing and using the phone.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
