We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our team.
NM's Enterprise Monitoring System Administration team operates in a highly dynamic environment, supporting application, infrastructure, and security monitoring systems that are foundational to ensuring the availability and performance needs of the business.
This position fulfills a critical role in the support and maintenance of Enterprise Security Monitoring tools verifying internal and external controls. Strong administration and problem solving skills coupled with engineering skills that sustain high performance and availability of the monitoring are essential to this role. This role requires interaction with two support vendors, internal audit and risk, and project teams within our Enterprise Project and Support department.
This position is accountable for providing functional analysis, coordination and oversight for problem resolution and day to day support of the monitoring applications including short and long term planning, health checks, software and hardware patching, capacity planning, security, performance analysis, and tuning as it relates to day-to-day operations in order to maintain performance and availability of the infrastructure. The successful System Administrator is responsible for using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business needs to improve and meet service level expectations and to deliver services by meeting the strategic objectives of the organization including service management, risk management and project delivery transition management. The position will be not only a technical expert but will be recognized as a thought leader, with a broad knowledge of how technology impacts business applications.
BASIC FUNCTION: Accountable for analysis, planning, patching, provisioning, coordination, communication, documentation and support of the systems infrastructure, hardware and software in order to support business applications. Responsible for using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business needs to improve and meet service level expectations. Deliver services by meeting the strategic objectives of the organization including service management, risk management and project delivery transition management.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum 6 years of diverse experience as an Administrator or Engineer supporting multiple areas of infrastructure and applications. Experience configuring and adjusting monitoring thresholds on infrastructure such as UNIX, LINUX, Windows (physical and virtual/VMware), and other appliance/black-box based infrastructure. Experience with Java-based technologies, scripting languages (e.g., Perl, VBScript, Powershell) and knowledge of MSSQL databases. Prior knowledge of performance monitoring is highly desirable .Proven experience with capacity planning aspects of balancing collected metrics to monitoring system capacity & limitations. Ability to set priorities for scope, risk and quality of technology solutions to meet business needs. Experience working with change management systems and coordinating deployments involving cross-project interdependencies. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with team members, other technology and business areas, and external clients. Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions across all levels of the organization. Motivated team player with the ability to work in an Agile and dynamic environment.
